Manchester United had already completed training sessions in preparation for their Champions League opener against Young Boys. Here are five things I saw during Manchester United’s practice session today.
Anthony Elanga, a Manchester United youth forward, trained with the first team. The Swedish international came in for Edinson Cavani, who was left out of the squad for today’s match against Young Boys. Anthony Elanga, who has already had a fantastic season with Manchester United’s youth squad, could be on his way to making his Champions League debut today. Last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjr handed him his Premier League debut, and he could do it again this season in the Champions League.
Fred trained with the team today after being left out of the squad for the match against Newcastle United. Fred was Ole Gunnar Solskjr’s favorite player in the center midfield position, however he was unavailable against Newcastle United due to a possible injury. Fred was named in the traveling squad for the match against Young Boys and will be available.
Prior to the match against Young Boys, Tom Heaton trained with the team. If something goes wrong against Young Boys, he’ll be David de Gea’s back-up goalkeeper. Because Tom Heaton has yet to play for Manchester United this season, David de Gea has been the team’s go-to goalkeeper. There are still games to be played this season, and David de Gea won’t be able to play in all of them.
Cristiano Ronaldo impresses Eric Bailly and Raphael Varane with his juggling talents. The forward from Portugal is already looking forward to today’s battle against young youngsters. He’s the most successful player in Champions League history, and he’ll be hoping to prove it at Manchester United this season.
Eric Bailly put in a lot of work today in preparation for the match against Young Boys. Raphael Varane has already established himself in Manchester United’s first team; he first competed with Victor Lindelof for the first berth, but there is no longer any competition.
