Chelsea have decided against allowing Nicolas Jackson to join Bayern Munich on loan, recalling the striker to London after Liam Delap sustained a hamstring injury in Saturday’s victory over Fulham.
Head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed after the match that Delap will be sidelined for up to eight weeks, leaving the Blues short of attacking options and forcing the club to halt Jackson’s proposed transfer.
Bayern had reportedly agreed on a deal with Chelsea for a season-long loan that included an option to buy, with the package valued at approximately €80 million (£69m / $93.5m). However, Chelsea’s injury concerns mean Jackson will now remain part of Maresca’s squad as they navigate a busy schedule.
This development is a significant blow for Bayern, who were hoping to strengthen their frontline, while Chelsea look to regroup and manage their squad depth effectively.
