
The third week of the NFL season delivered jaw-dropping drama, historic comebacks, and heartbreak at the buzzer across stadiums. From Philadelphia’s stunning blocked field-goal return to Minnesota’s defensive dominance, Sunday’s slate of games had it all.
Eagles 33, Rams 26
In one of the wildest finishes of the season so far, the Philadelphia Eagles rallied from 19 points down to defeat the Los Angeles Rams. Defensive tackle Jordan Davis sealed the victory by blocking Joshua Karty’s potential game-winning field goal and returning it for a touchdown as time expired.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts sparked the comeback with his first three touchdown passes of the season and a rushing score. A.J. Brown added 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Eagles now sit at 3-0.
For the Rams, Matthew Stafford threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns, moving into ninth place all-time in career passing TDs (382), surpassing Matt Ryan. Despite strong performances from Puka Nacua (112 yards) and Kyren Williams (94 yards, one TD), Los Angeles slipped to 2-1.
Bears 31, Cowboys 14
Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams put on a show in Chicago, tossing four touchdown passes as the Bears earned new head coach Ben Johnson his first career victory.
The Cowboys struggled with turnovers, giving the ball away three times in the fourth quarter. Dak Prescott threw for 251 yards but also had two costly interceptions. Rookie Luther Burden III electrified the crowd with a 65-yard flea-flicker touchdown.
Chicago improved to 1-2, while Dallas dropped to 1-2 and lost star receiver CeeDee Lamb to an ankle injury.
Buccaneers 29, Jets 27
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers escaped with a last-second win over the New York Jets after kicker Chase McLaughlin nailed a 36-yard field goal as time expired.
It capped off a rollercoaster game where the Jets briefly took the lead on a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown. Quarterback Baker Mayfield threw for 233 yards and a touchdown before leaving with a hamstring concern, while Mike Evans also exited injured.
Veteran Tyrod Taylor started in place of Justin Fields for the Jets, delivering 197 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. The Jets fell to 0-3, while Tampa Bay improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2005.
Browns 13, Packers 10
Cleveland ended an eight-game losing streak in dramatic fashion as rookie kicker Andre Szmyt drilled a 55-yard game-winning field goal as time expired.
The Browns scored 13 unanswered points in the final minutes, fueled by Quinshon Judkins’ late rushing touchdown. Cleveland’s defense tormented Packers quarterback Jordan Love, sacking him five times.
Green Bay led most of the way but collapsed late, falling to 2-1 while Cleveland grabbed its first win of the season.
Chargers 23, Broncos 20
A nail-biting AFC West clash ended with the Los Angeles Chargers celebrating their first 3-0 start since 2002. Cameron Dicker’s 43-yard field goal at the buzzer sealed the victory.
Justin Herbert threw for 300 yards, connecting with Keenan Allen and rookie Quentin Johnston, who both had big nights. Denver led 20-13 in the fourth quarter but faltered late for the second consecutive week.
Steelers 21, Patriots 14
Aaron Rodgers delivered in crunch time, tossing a go-ahead 17-yard touchdown to Calvin Austin to lift Pittsburgh over New England.
Despite outgaining the Steelers in total yards, the Patriots’ five turnovers—including two fumbles from Rhamondre Stevenson—proved costly. Rodgers’ second-quarter touchdown to DK Metcalf moved him into fourth place all-time with 509 career passing touchdowns.
Vikings 48, Bengals 10
Minnesota’s defense stole the spotlight, forcing five turnovers and returning two for touchdowns in a dominant rout of Cincinnati.
Isaiah Rodgers scored twice on defense, while Jordan Mason rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns. With Joe Burrow sidelined, backup Jake Browning struggled, throwing two interceptions in his first start of the season.
Colts 41, Titans 20
The Indianapolis Colts stayed perfect, cruising past the Tennessee Titans. Running back Jonathan Taylor racked up 102 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Daniel Jones added 228 passing yards and a score.
The Titans’ struggles continued, dropping them to 0-3 since their 2024 collapse. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward had an interception returned for a touchdown on his third career pass attempt.
Commanders 41, Raiders 24
Special teams and ground dominance powered Washington past Las Vegas. Jaylin Lane’s 90-yard punt return touchdown and Jeremy McNichols’ 60-yard scoring run highlighted the win.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota, filling in for injured starter Jayden Daniels, contributed with both a passing and rushing touchdown. Despite Tre Tucker’s 145 receiving yards and three touchdowns, the Raiders fell to 1-2.
Panthers 30, Falcons 0
Carolina’s defense suffocated Atlanta in a rare shutout. Chau Smith-Wade returned an interception for a touchdown, while quarterback Bryce Young added a rushing score.
The Falcons offense looked lifeless, with rookie Michael Penix Jr. throwing two interceptions before being benched.
Jaguars 17, Texans 10
Jacksonville ended a frustrating streak with its first home win over Houston since 2017. Travis Etienne scored the game-winning touchdown in the final two minutes after a clutch 46-yard reception by rookie Brian Thomas Jr.
The Jaguars’ defense intercepted C.J. Stroud twice to preserve the win. Houston remains winless at 0-3.
Seahawks 44, Saints 13
Seattle rookie Tory Horton electrified fans with a 95-yard punt return touchdown—setting a franchise record—as the Seahawks rolled over New Orleans.
Running back Kenneth Walker III added two rushing touchdowns, while quarterback Sam Darnold was nearly perfect, throwing for 218 yards and two scores.
The Saints dropped to 0-3 despite a solid showing from rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler.
49ers 16, Cardinals 15
San Francisco eked out a win over Arizona thanks to Eddy Pineiro’s last-second field goal.
Christian McCaffrey racked up 140 total yards, while Mac Jones threw for 284 yards and a touchdown. Arizona’s Kyler Murray battled hard but fell just short as the Cardinals slipped to 2-1.
Chiefs 22, Giants 9
The Kansas City Chiefs picked up their first win of the season behind a balanced performance from Patrick Mahomes, who threw for 224 yards and a touchdown.
Harrison Butker added three field goals as Kansas City pulled away in the second half. The Giants struggled offensively, with Russell Wilson throwing two interceptions and rookie Cam Skattebo accounting for the team’s lone touchdown.
