Arsenal Suffer Injury Setback as Noni Madueke Faces Spell on the Sidelines

London, September 23, 2025 – Arsenal have been dealt a blow with the news that summer signing Noni Madueke will be unavailable for the coming weeks after picking up a knee injury during the Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The 23-year-old England international, who joined from Chelsea in the recent transfer window, was forced off at halftime of Sunday’s 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed on Tuesday that initial scans suggest the winger will need a few weeks to recover, though the extent of the problem will be reassessed in the coming days.
“It looks like he will be out for a few weeks,” Arteta explained. “We will scan him again next week. He felt something right at the beginning of the match, and by halftime it had become too painful to continue. It’s disappointing because he was in a very good rhythm, showing consistency and becoming a real threat for us.”
British media reports suggest Madueke could face up to six to eight weeks on the sidelines, though Arsenal are hopeful the layoff might be shorter.
The Gunners’ injury list doesn’t end there. Defender Piero Hincapié, another recent arrival, has picked up a groin issue. Arteta noted that the Ecuadorian has lacked a proper pre-season and will need monitoring over the next week. “I think that will be a short-term injury,” the manager said.
Meanwhile, Arsenal continue to be without Kai Havertz, who underwent knee surgery last month. However, there is positive news on Martin Ødegaard. The Norwegian midfielder, who injured his shoulder earlier this month, has returned to training and could make his comeback in a matter of days.
Despite these setbacks, Arsenal remain in second place in the Premier League table, trailing leaders Liverpool by five points after five matches. Arteta’s side will now turn their attention to the League Cup tie against Port Vale on Wednesday before a crucial league trip to Newcastle United on Sunday.
The injuries present yet another challenge for Arteta as he aims to keep Arsenal competitive in the title race after finishing runners-up for the past three seasons.
